title : Headache...
Hello! Long time no see ^^ After two months of unemployment I understand that when u have no goal to pursue, u will become more n more lazy... just like I do. Actually I have a lot of things (I supposed) to do such as doing the two birthday cards, but without any deadlines I couldnt have the motivation to start or even touch them (hmm... It sounds like some excuses that someone will give even she does last min work. Haha!) Oops! Miss the point ^^ The main purpose of this post is not to complain how lazy I am...
Preparing for the first semester was hard... At first, I thought that studying in uni would be something like studying at JC or secondary school whereby they would have a fixed timetable that u had to follow. In fact, it was very different in uni. First, u had to know about the process of bidding in order to bid for the modules that u wanted to take in the semester. This meant that u have to plan for our own timetable. I had a hard time deciding what modules to take beside the compulsory modules. There were a lot of modules to choose from. U could take any one of it if u can fulfill the requirements. The only problem u would face was to sort that into the timetable that u had planned. Thus, after placing those compulsory lecture classes in my timetable, I found it very hard to sort in modules that I was interested in. Mostly because there would be a clash in timing. Due to it, I spent 2 whole days fixing my timetable and finally satisfied with it. On the bidding day, I logged onto the CORS website and started bidding. I then realised that some of the modules that I wanted to take was not available for bidding for the time being. I thought that those modules were not available for me, until I went to look at their instructions again. So the truth was that I could bid for those arts modules at the next round as the current round was for those compulsory modules only. Haiz, I was so stupid to spend half an hour trying to figure out what was the problem T.T The next problem I faced was that there was pre-allocated module O.o and the timing was totally different from what I planned. If I go ahead with the pre-allocated module, then my whole timetable would become a big mess as I would need to plan my timetable again. However, I was only left with a day to bid for the modules n I was very reluctant to change my timetable again. It was the most perfect timetable so far. So I bid for my compulsory modules first n went back to the home page to find whether there was any solutions. However, the website was not helpful enough as it mostly talked about the dropping of modules that are allocated to the students after they had bid for it successfully, not much mention about the pre-allocated modules. After straggling for a few hours, I decided to appeal, requesting them to change the lecture time slot for me. However, it was being rejected as they said that to change lecture class have to wait until the end of the whole bidding round. Okay, so I had to wait for two more weeks before I could change to the class that I want, but the appeal would only be successful if there is still places available. That means that it was not 100% that I could able to change T.T . When the second round of bidding started, I tried to bid for the module that I intended to take after the change of the lecture class. Yet, I was unable to do so as the system identified that I had a clash in lessons. Therefore, I had a headache again. If I was to wait until all the bidding rounds had ended, then I would not be able to bid for the additional module. However, if I appealed again to request them to change the lecture class, they would still reject me. (T__T) Then, I started to consider the choice of dropping the pre-allocated module since there was a option in the appeal for students to request to drop a certain pre-allocated module. That night, I submitted another appeal to request them to drop the module for me n indicate that I wanted to bid for additional module. Since it was an appeal that was submitted at night, they would only reply the day after. I didnt manage to view the their reply in the morning as I had to attend the welcome tea session by our department while the rest of the school were doing their Flag day. The welcome tea session was really a waste of time as the Head of Department just talked for around 15 min n the whole session ended. -____-"" (At least they had refreshment from the Four Season...) We also had a glance of the performance they going to present on the 'Rag'. I went home one hour later... The first thing I went was to have my lunch ^o^ (LOL!). When I checked my statue for my appeal, it stated there "Not applicable". My first thought was,"die liao..." Then, I logged on to my email to check again because they would always send me the remark for my appeal after they had evaluated. Guess what?! They informed my faculty about my case n they had help me change the lecture class. Relief... But did it mean that I should approach my faculty first before I submit all those appeals? I didnt regret of submitting the appeals instead of approaching my faculty. It was because the only way to ask help from my faculty is to call their hotline. However, I really didnt know how to put them in words. The result was still good n I only use 5 points in total to bid for my 5 modules. Ha Ha I have more points to use in the next sem ^0^ . Ps. Dont ask me to plan gathering when u know I have cards that r not completed... because I will also do last min work. ^____^"" |
